The Phoenix of Inventiveness
The site of this museum is the old residence of the poet Félix Lope de Vega y Carpio (known as the Phoenix of Inventiveness), who lived here between 1610 and 1635. The Real Academia Española acquired the building in 1931 and opened it as a museum in 1935, displaying five personal objects that belonged to the poet, together with other items from the 17th century that have been used to create the atmosphere of each room. The garden is a recreation of the original, on which Félix Lope wrote a poem.
