The most popular zoo in Germany
The zoological garden "Zoologischer Garten" is a unique place from several points of view. The tourist arriving in Berlin and who gets off at the train station bearing the same name, "Zoologischer Garten", will be surprised to find that the biggest zoo in Germany (with 14 000 animals) is located right in the heart of West Berlin.
It has a field 35 hectares long and is also the oldest zoo in Germany. It was Frédéric Guillaume IV who developed this site in 1844. You really should go there on a Sunday morning, not only to see the 14 000 different types of animals but also for the ambiance which is quite pleasant.
