Gaudí's great obsession
The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia was Antoni Gaudí's last work. It was started in neo-gothic style in 1882, a year before the modernist architect was put in charge of the construction. Gaudí changed the original plans and put all his creativity into the church, which became the most important work of his life ' so important that he even lived here for 16 years until his death in 1926, and was buried in the crypt.
At the time of Gaudí's death, only one of the towers of the Nativity façade had been finished. Nowadays, the temple is still under construction, thank to public subscriptions.
