The Vondel Park
The lush green spaces of Amsterdam first emerged in the mid-19th century following the express desire of the richer community to create a public park. The once marshy land south of Leidseplein was the chosen spot, named Vondelpark after the Dutch poet Joost van den Vondel. This park welcomes 8 million tourists every year, and offers a number of bars and restaurants, including the ‘t Blauwe Theehuis.
