Silver, gold and much else besides
This residence is home to some pretty special collections, with all the objects on display belonging to the haul of treasures accumulated over the centuries by the Wittelsbachers. Here you’ll find an incredibly rich range of utensils and porcelain objets d’art, a 3500-piece silver cutlery set, a special range of forks for cutting particular kinds of meat, a presentation cabinet containing a host of different miniatures and paintings from the 16th to 18th centuries. If you’re hoping to see the Lord of Bavaria’s treasures, you will have to pay an additional entrance fee. The chamber that holds these treasures not only includes the fabulous crown with which he was crowned in 1806 but also precious objects of a more historical than sentimental importance. The prayer book of the Emperor Karl of Kahlen and the statuette of St George are two notable examples.
