Berlin's history and cultural history from the Middle Ages till today
The Märkische Museum was built between 1899 and 1908 by Ludwig Hoffmann, mixing Renaissance and neo-gothic styles. The exhibition, entitled "Look at the city!", on Berlin's history and cultural history has several themes such as Berlin as a royal residence, Berlin as a capital, and Berlin from the Enlightenment to modern architecture. It is organised according to topography, crafts, industry, and the council's story. There are documents, sculptures and drawings on Berliners dating back to the earliest signs of civilisation (60 000 B.C.).
