The works of a politically-driven artist
This museum is dedicated to the works of Käthe Kollwitz, portrayer of a war-torn period in time. Her graphic art and sculptures make damning criticisms of the pitiful social conditions of workers in her lifetime and of the consequences of the First World War. The 15-piece collection of bronze artefacts at the museum demonstrate in its entirety the art of this particular artist. The highlights of this collection are surely the range of self-portraits, the War Cycle and a series of eight lithographs dedicated to the theme of Death.
