The Venice cathedral
This Basilica is the third religious building to have been raised on the same site. The first church built in the 9th century was gutted by a fire and the second was replaced by a more spectacular-looking construction. The plush interior has been designed in the exact image of the Sérenissime. From its mosaics, gold leaf gilding and marble you'll see that only the finest materials were used to provide a worthy welcome for the remains of Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice.

    La basilique Saint-Marc est la plus importante basilique de Venise, construite en 828 sur la place Saint-Marc, proche du Campanile de Saint Marc et au Palais des Doges, proche du Grand Canal. Elle est un remarquable exemple d'architecture byzantine, et abrite les reliques sacrées de Saint Marc l'évangéliste. Elle brûla dans l'incendie qui ravagea le palais ducal en 976.
