In memory of the miracle of Turin.
The Corpus Domini Basilica was built in the 17th century in memory of the 1453 miracle of Turin. Legend has it that the hallowed wafer and the objects stolen from the Exilles church rose up into the sky before the people of Turin. Today there still remains a plaque commemorating this miracle. Conceived by Ascanio Vitozzi, the front of the church, situated along the Via Palazzo di Città, is baroque in style and the altar is the work of Filippo Juvarra.
