A four-arcade, 119 meter-wide and 132 meter-long portico
This portico, built by Augustus between 27 and 23 A.C., was dedicated to his sister Ottavia. The whole complex included the temples of Juno and Jupiter, two public libraries (one Greek and one Latin), and a conference room. The back facade was integrated into the Sant'Angelo in Pescheria church which was built in the Middle Ages. The decorations of this church are reminiscent of the fish market which was and still does take place there. Damaged by fire, the portico's complex was rebuilt by Septimus Severius (203 B.C.). The ruins are still visible today.
