Tierpark Hellabrunn

The Hellabrunn Park is not exactly your average zoo. This initiative dates back to 1911 and has made great strides ever since, receiving the official title of a ‘geo zoo’. The idea behind this park remains to give the animals as much space and freedom as possible, with a minimum of cages and fencing. The result has proven an enormous success, with millions of visits every year. If it’s a bellowing polar bear you’re wanting to se, then head for the southern end of the park towards 1 pm (except on Tuesdays and Fridays). With the aid of a prey simulator, the Hellabrunn is quickly transformed into the Arctic!
