A jewel in Renaissance Lombardy's crown
Construction of the Saint Maurizio's monastic church was begun in 1508 by G.G. Dolcebuono and it provides a cloister for Benedictine nuns. The interior is divided into two different rooms: the first, reserved for devotees, and the second, for the nuns themselves. With approximately 6000m2 of frescos covering the walls inside the building, Saint Maurizio's Monastery is a treasure trove in itself. Amongst the frescos are the remarkable works of Bernardino Luini.
