Leonardo de Vinci painted 'The Last Supper', in the refectory of the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, on the request of Ludovic The Moor, over the years 1495 to 1498. The scene shows Jesus amongst his twelve disciples at the moment where he announces that he will be betrayed by one of them. This was painted using the tempera technique an has been restored seven times. It was last restored in 1999, revealing the authenticity of the work.
