It used to be a meeting place for writers and politicians, and nowadays it is an emblematic building of the 'writers neighbourhood', close to the Plaza de Santa Ana. It was founded in the beginning of the 19th century, and even though it nowadays lacks the notoriety that characterised it in the past, it's still a meeting point for intellectuals. Its sober façade hides a beautiful place full of history, where you can get a feel of the past.
