A popular park
The Friedrichshain Park was conceived according to the plans of Gustav Meyer, a student of Lenné in the English art of garden design in 1848. In 1913, the famous Baroque-style fountain was added, onto which were engraved character names from the tales of the brothers Grimm. However, from appearances you wouldn't imagine that this garden is actually set on a mountain of rubble and debris from the war. In the winter, you can go tobogganing down the snow-covered slopes, while the summer is the perfect time to take in one of the many open-air concerts held here.
