Three symbolic prongs
This monument symbolises the three main routes taken by aeroplanes during the Cold War, and was inaugurated in 1951 on the square situated directly opposite the Tempelhof Airport. The Hungerharke is 20 metres high and faces westerly, in reference to the 250,000 aeroplanes that once landed and took off in the space of a minute on the airlift.
