The most beautiful square on the avenue "Unter den Linden"
Located on the famous avenue "Unter den Linden", the "Bebelplatz" has been returned to its original function as a square. Which is interesting as under the GDR is was made into a giant car park. It was built between 1740 and 1780 under the orders of Frédéric II and Knobelsdorff. It is surrounded by the Opera house, the Ste-Hedwige Cathedral, the former library and the Humboldt University. In the middle of the square there is a flagstone commemorating the auto-da-fé of 1933, through which you can see an empty overturned library.
