The creation of the Royal Astronomic Observatory was the idea of King Charles III, who put Juan de Villanueva on charge of its construction in the 18th century. It is currently part of the National Astronomical Observatory, together with other Spanish institutions. Apart from being dedicated to research, it is the site of a museum where several objects related to the study of this science are displayed.Practical Information
